Course Breakdown

MONTH 1 – IMPROVISATION AND COLD READING

  • Weeks 1-2: Focus on the basics of improvisation, learning to understand and interact with various scenarios alongside fellow actors.

  • Weeks 3-4: Cold reading techniques including performing monologues, understanding character interactions, and rapidly grasping scene context without reliance on memorization.

MONTH 2 – SCENE STUDY

  • Learn to interpret and perform four different types of scenes and genres. This month emphasizes understanding character roles, maintaining personal characteristics while embodying assigned roles, and interacting with other characters’ communications.

MONTH 3 – ON-CAMERA SELF TAPE AUDITION TECHNIQUES

  • Weeks 1-2: Drama scene practice.

  • Weeks 3-4: Comedy scene practice.

  • Comprehensive instruction on audition expectations, slating, scene breakdown, and storytelling. The focus is on self-tape preparations, including technical aspects to ensure quality recordings.

MONTH 4 – HEADSHOTS AND BUSINESS ASPECTS OF ACTING

  • Week 1: Selecting and preparing for three different headshot looks: theatrical (TV/film), commercial, and a personal choice (e.g., athletic, professional).

  • Week 2: Crafting resumes and cover letters for agencies and casting directors.

  • Week 3: Posing techniques followed by actual headshot photography.

  • Week 4: Finalizing headshot selections for retouching and learning about self-submissions and agency submissions processes.

MONTH 5 – PREPARING FOR FILM SHOOT

  • Revisit scenes from Month Three to prepare for filming.

  • Activities include table reads, rehearsal, blocking, and finalizing wardrobe and catering requirements.

MONTH 6 – FILMING AND PRODUCTION

  • First half of the month: Filming a drama and a comedy scene on a 7,000 sq ft soundstage equipped with diverse sets and professional crew.

  • Experience: Enjoy the support of family and friends who observe and cheer on the actors.

  • Second half of the month: Post-production, including editing of scenes into reels, preparing for agent submissions, and wrapping up with a celebration of the actors' hard work.

Course Breakdown

All private lessons in the Gold Program are one hour, once per week for 10 months

MONTH 1 – IMPROV


This course allows the actor to perform without a script. Directors love to use improv on set, and it’s a very beneficial skill to have when doing commercials. Knowledge of improvisation is extremely helpful with interviewing/spokesperson skills as well.

MONTH 2 – COLD READING


The focus is on reading aloud from a script or other text without any rehearsal, practice or study in advance. Learning the skill of cold reading is very important to an actor’s career. 

MONTH 3 – SCENE STUDY


During our scene study instruction, students learn how to perform with multiple actors. This is a necessary component that all actors must learn.

MONTH 4 – ON CAMERA


Understanding acting for the camera is an important asset. We combine acting with how-to’s for performing on camera to enhance your performance and get those acting jobs.

MONTH 5 – SELF TAPE


A majority of auditions are done through self tape submissions where you film your audition and send it back to the casting director or agent for viewing. It's extremely crucial to have the right lighting, background and camera angle with the proper eye-line towards the camera for truly professional results. By the end of month 5 you will be a natural at doing self tapes so you can pour 100% of your newly acquired acting skills into that role that you are going for!

MONTH 6 – VOICEOVER


Voiceover is Acting! Learn different tricks and techniques around the house with easily accessible and reasonably priced equipment that can be purchased on sites like Amazon. Study and practice will include doing voiceover for narration, animation, audiobooks, video games, television and film, commercials and more. After Month 6 you'll be sounding like the Pros and ready to start submitting to voiceover auditions!

MONTH 7 – COMMERCIAL

Commercials are a combination of acting AND selling a product. Month 7 is devoted to learning and focusing on the skills and techniques involved in being a successful commercial actor and spokesperson. You can have a great career alone just doing commercials!

MONTH 8 – MODELING/HEADSHOTS PREP


The first 2 weeks of this month are devoted to modeling. Learning poses, how to walk on a runway and learning the business of modeling and how to break into this field. The next 2 weeks are devoted to your headshots. Agents and Casting Directors see your headshots and resume before meeting you in person. During this month we will go over what you will do at your photo sessions. We will pick out what to wear, decide on your image, practice poses and discuss what not to eat or drink prior to the shoot and more. You will receive up to 5 great headshots with different looks. Headshots are your calling card. This important step cannot be missed.

MONTH 9 – SUBMISSIONS


Stay ahead of the game by learning the business behind the entertainment industry. Learn the process of submitting to agents and casting directors and how online breakdowns work. This time will also be utilized to craft your resume and cover letter.

MONTH 10 – THE RECAP & GRADUATION


We will have a refresher course of all that was learned during the previous 9 months. A great opportunity to ask questions and strengthen your newly acquired acting and modeling skills.

MONTH 11 – SUBMISSIONS

During this time we will be going through headshots, footage from filming, creating your resume and cover letter, actor's reel and casting agency lists to submit to. Learn the process of submitting to agents and casting directors and how online breakdowns work. Stay ahead of the game by learning the business behind the business of the entertainment industry. 

MONTH 12 – RECAP AND GRADUATION

We will have a refresher course of all that was learned during the previous 11 months to solidify your skill-set. A great opportunity to review, ask questions and strengthen your newly acquired acting and modeling skills

HOLLYWOOD WEEK!

For our 12 month students, we present to you Hollywood Week, which is included as part of this program.
 
You will film real scenes on a real Hollywood soundstage with real sets for your actor's reel, which we put together for you and is yours to keep!
 
Also included, you will have a photoshoot session with one of the industry's best photographers for your headshots, with up to 5 looks!

For our out of state students, your package includes a 7 Day/6 night stay in Los Angeles with roundtrip airfare for you and a companion, hotel accommodations and transportation!

MONTH 7 – COMMERCIAL

MONTH 8 – TV & FILM BLOCKING/FILMING PREP


You've nailed the audition! You've booked the part! Now comes time to know what to do on set! Here, we will review the scenes and commercials you will be shooting during Hollywood Week. You will learn everything from, camera blocking to working with camera crew and everyone else that will be on set when all eyes are on you! 

MONTH 9 – MODELING/HEADSHOTS PREP

Month 10 will be nothing short of exciting as you will finally get to film 2 Scenes and a Commercial on a real 7000 Sq. foot Hollywood soundstage! This is also the month you get to take your headshots. Don't worry! You will have had plenty of opportunity to rehearse and practice before before the cameras start rolling.
